> Beringer Guiding Light Awards
September 1st, 2010 @ 11:30 a.m.

This very special event takes place to honor and thank our community. It is a forum to recognize individuals and organizations that exemplify extraordinary service for the benefit of the children served by Woodland Hills. The ninth annual Beringer Guiding Light Awards will recognize the unfaltering dedication of a few.

The awards honor Sr. Mary Martin Beringer who has shown unwavering dedication to our organization for over forty years. Once caregiver to the children who lived here as St. James Orphanage and during the time of transition to Woodland Hills, Sr. Mary Martin left a positive mark in the lives of those she encountered…and still does. Her commitment to the mission of Woodland Hills is so profound that nine years ago, it was decided to give out an annual award in her name.

2009 award winners, all of whom continue to volunteer, advise and/or advocate on behalf of Woodland Hills, include:

  • Xavier Bell (Community Action Duluth), Volunteer Spirit Award
  • Center for Alcohol & Drug Treatment, Partner Award
  • Sherry Olsen (Woodland Hills Academy), Exceptional Service Award
  • Todd Erickson (Woodland Hills), Excellence in Achievement Award

Nominations are encouraged and accepted through July 30th for the 2010 awards. Dedicated advocates of Woodland Hills who have and/or continue to provide leadership to the organization are ideal candidates for the award. This can include former participants, volunteers, staff, organizations and community members based on their service in the organization. Self-nominations also are accepted.

Award recipients will be recognized and honored at an outdoor luncheon ceremony on September 1, 2010 @ 11:30 a.m. on Woodland Hills campus. The event is open to the public with a reservation. Email social@woodlandhills.org or call 218.728.7500 x113 for reservations.
